Mumbai, June 1, 2025 – Dharma Productions has issued an official statement addressing recent abuse allegations against Pratik Shah, the cinematographer for their acclaimed film Homebound. Shah faces social media accusations of inappropriate behaviour toward women, leading him to delete his Instagram account amid the controversy.
In its response, Dharma Productions reaffirmed its “zero-tolerance policy against inappropriate behaviour and sexual harassment toward any individual working with us in any capacity.” The company clarified that Shah worked on Homebound as a freelance cinematographer for a limited period and that no formal complaints were ever filed during production.
“Mr. Pratik Shah was a freelancer on the project Homebound and was working on it for a limited period. His engagement with us has been completed,” the statement read. “During this limited period, our internal committee for POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) didn’t receive any complaints against him from any cast or crew on our film Homebound.”
Homebound, produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, made history as the only Indian film selected for the Un Certain Regard section at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Starring Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa, the film received a standing ovation and widespread praise for its storytelling and cinematography.
Dharma Productions emphasized that it takes all harassment claims seriously and encourages anyone with evidence to come forward through the proper channels.
